Maglor laughs a little in response. "And what if the name no longer fitted, later? For us, names define us, in many ways. If you wanted a break with your past self you might rename yourself then. I... do not, for example, think of myself as Makalaure any longer, only Maglor - the innocence of the child Makalaure is no longer applicable to me."

Makalaure is dead he told his father He died on the sands of Alqualonde, with his wife's body on his blade. There is only Maglor, now

He gets up and whistles as the varren lift their heads, and the pup comes gambolling over to sit at his feet.

"Here now my brave one" He bends to pet it "Shall we go hunting with your parents?"
